Games are becoming more powerful and realistic in their ability to allow the player to do and experience more. As a result, GPUs and processors aren’t the only things being pushed to the limit.

The latest generation of PC games require an increasing number of keystrokes to play, presenting a real challenge to both gamers and keyboard designers alike. Logitech has stepped up to that challenge with the first gaming keyboard featuring an adjustable backlit LCD display for critical, in-game information, unprecedented programmability and style—the Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard.

Being a major player in the PC peripherals market at home and abroad, the Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard’s features and key selling points adorns the box in multiple languages—English, French and Spanish. But more than the green hi-tech design, multilingual marketing spiel, and striking photos of the G15, the size of the box is what grabs you when you first see it. After opening it, your first impression is confirmed. This is one big keyboard! A CD with the software required for the Logitech G15 to work its gaming magic, snap-on Wrist Pad and Installation Guide are also included.

In spite of its size, the Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard is not much heavier than smaller keyboards. Taking it with you to LAN parties shouldn’t be a problem—provided your bag can accommodate the G15′s extra width. The faceplate of the keyboard is silver, while the edges, top and detachable wrist guard have a black no-skid finish similar to the side grips found on some of Logitech’s gaming mice.

The Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard’s box is decked out in Logitech’s signature hi-tech green motif for gaming peripherals.

The G15′s list of impressive features can be found on the back of the box.

As always, Logitech does a good job of packing and protecting their products.

This is one big keyboard!

You can use these channels underneath the G15 to route your mouse cable—provided you don’t use the support legs to angle the keyboard.

There are 18 programmable G keys that can store commands for your favorite games.

Keys M1 – M3 allows the Logitech G15 to store up to 54 commands on the G key pad. You can also use the MR button allows you to quickly record keystrokes and assign them to any of the G-keys while in a game. Talk about flexibility!

The Game Mode switch enables and disables the Windows Start key Nice!

The button on the left mutes the speakers, while the one on the right controls the keyboard’s illumination.

There are two USB ports located on the back on the keyboard. Unfortunately, they don’t support hi-speed USB 2.0 devices—like USB Flash Drives—at their maximum speed.

The G15′s unique GamePanel LCD display is adjustable at any angle and folds down for safe transport. Below are the Media Player buttons.

Here’s the CD with the Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard Software and Installation Guide.

They’re here. The newest line of notebooks arrive and they are blessed with 700MHz processors, lots of RAM and big hard drives. Anyone need a desktop replacement?

All of these notebooks have a feature that makes them stand out from one another but the HP impressed me the most. The HP is a little on the pricey side, over $3800, but with plenty of nice features it is worth it.

HP OmniBook 6000

The OmniBook scored well in its battery life test and it comes loaded with 128MB of RAM and a 12GB hard disk. For the price I would like to see a bigger screen, a 14.1 inch on a 700MHz notebook just doesn’t seem to be enough.

IBM ThinkPad A20p and T20

IBM pops in with two impressive notebooks. These two units also scored very well on battery life tests, about 4 hours. The one thing I did not particularly like about the IBM models was their weight. At 7.5 lbs. they will be plenty to haul around if you travel.

Quantex W-1511

The W-1511 packs a very large 18GB hard disk and a 15 inch display. The bad thing about this unit is the very short warranty. You get a lot of features but a 12 month warranty isn’t long enough. While the unit is priced under $3000, I would rather pay more and get a better warranty.

Windrover Navigator 143pt

I am not one to jump on a new brand until they have established at least some history of good service. However, this company appears to be on the right track with its products. The unit scored well on its tests and comes with plenty of features to make you happy.

We all knew it was going to come one day but I am not so sure we knew it would be this fast. Laptop processor speeds have been increasing consistently over the past year and they have now reached the 1GHz mark. Models from Dell, Gateway, HP, Toshiba and WinBook are the first ones to sport this unit and they look real nice.

In the past you had to take a performance hit when you wanted to have portability but that is far from the case with these machines. With the fast processors, big hard disks and the ability to choke yourself on RAM; these really are desktop replacements. Manufacturers have been trying to sell that point for quite a while but until now, there wasn’t a laptop that I would choose over a desktop. I had always looked around at them but there was always something that fell short and made me feel like I wasn’t getting my moneys worth. The way I see it is, this next generation of laptops is going to change a lot of the old annoyances of owning one. Well, let’s get started and take a look at these machines to see just how they spec out.

Dell Inspiron 8000
Intel Pentium III Processor up to 1GHz, 64MB Standard RAM (Upgradeable to 512MB), 48GB hard drive available, IEEE 1394 integrated port, 2 USB ports, S-Video for TV-Out, Displays range from 14.1 to 15 inch (type varies with size), Up to 32MB of SGRAM for video, Weight 7.2-7.9 lbs. depending on equipment, 2-3 hours battery time depending on usage. Estimated Price – $2600 with very basic features.

Gateway Solo 9500xl
Intel Pentium III Processor 1GHz, 128MB RAM (Upgradeable to 512MB), 20GB hard drive, 2 USB ports, 8X DVD-ROM, Integrated 10/100 Ethernet and 56K Modem, 15.7 inch Display, 16MB 4x AGP video, 2 PCMCIA expansion slots, Weight approx. 7.5 lbs., Full-size 88 Key keypad. Estimated Price – $2999.

HP OmniBook 6000
Intel Pentium III Processor 1GHz, 128MB RAM (Upgradeable to 512MB), 30GB hard drive, 1 USB port, 1 Infrared port, Integrated 10/100 Ethernet and 56K Modem, 15 inch Display, 8MB 2x AGP video, Dual-display and Dual-view capable, 16 Bit Stereo Sound, 2 PC Card expansion slots, Weight 5.2-6.5 lbs depending on equipment. Estimated Price – $4199.

Toshiba Tecra 8200
Intel Pentium III Processor 1GHz, 128MB RAM (Upgradeable to 512MB), 20GB hard drive, 2 USB ports, 1 Infrared port, TV-Out port, Integrated 10/100 Ethernet and 56K Modem, 16 Bit Stereo Sound, 14.1 inch Display, 16MB 4x AGP video, Weight 5.5 lbs. Estimated Price – $3861.

WinBook X1
Intel Pentium III Processor 1GHz, 64MB RAM (Upgradeable to 320MB), 20GB hard drive, 2 USB ports, 8X DVD-ROM, Integrated 10/100 Ethernet and 56K Modem, 13.3 inch Display, 16MB 4x AGP video with dual-view support, Weight 4.7-5.2 lbs., Estimated Price – $3098.

As you have probably noticed, there are a couple of items that really stand out here. For starters, the Gateway tops the entire bunch with the biggest display, 15.7 inch. Now the bigger display does make for a larger unit but when you can get a monster display like that, who really cares? I know it increases the weight on the unit but it doesn’t make it that much heavier than the rest. On the opposite end of the scale are the Toshiba and WinBook, both coming in with weights under the 5.5 lb. mark. The weight measurements are without the AC adapters that usually add about a pound or so to the overall weight of the unit.

One very nice thing about these new laptops is the addition of extra video RAM and OpenGL support; those of you who like to play games will appreciate this. For quite some time now, the lack of video has really turned a lot of average gamers away from a laptop because if you wanted to play something while on the road, you had to suffer through the horrible (compared to a desktop) video. I am so happy to see features like this hit the laptop market.

All of the hard drives are pretty standard and there are not a whole lot of surprises here. 20-30GB is not that big, especially with desktops hitting 75GB. I don’t see a big wow factor in a 20GB unit when you think about the big picture; but for a laptop, this is an added benefit.

Getting further down into the specifications while shopping for one of these units will reveal a ton of available features (way too many to list) that may be of interest to you. Some are equipped with IEEE 1394 ports while others have Infrared. You will find that some of the units can be upgraded relatively easy while others are “canned” units with only a few upgrade options. Regardless of which model you choose, you have plenty of things to research before making your purchase.

All in all, these are some pretty nice machines that pack enough power for nearly everyone. There isn’t much to worry about any more when it comes to choosing a laptop that has the features you want; your only obstacle is the price. While the feature set is getting better, the price on these little guys isn’t going anywhere, although down would be nice.

The Dell with just basic equipment is going to set you back $2600 and if you tack on a few extra goodies like a 15-inch display and more RAM, the price easily tops the $3000 mark. I am not sure if that will be in many of our budgets, but you can expect to spend at least that much for a well-equipped unit, regardless of the brand. Just be thankful the decision between a desktop and laptop has become a lot easier.

This is probably an understatement, but the pocket-friendly DSLR landscape heats. Today, Nikon announced the Nikon D1 and V1, a camera with interchangeable lens mount that boasts of high definition video recording and an ultra-fast autofocus system that is currently unmatched.

First, let half of the basic features. He sits behind the lens with Nikon’s EXPEED image all the new processor 3. It ‘can capture full HD video at 30 frames per second, or 10.1 megapixels. For low light J1 and V1 can increase the ISO 3200, provided, of course, a built-in flash pop-up is not enough.

So what is the J1 and only V1? Aside from boasting and interchangeable lens system, which can pressure up to 60 frames per second if the focus is locked. This number drops to 10 fps when the focus is on full adaptation, which uses up 73 points to create a clear picture in no time flat, due in large part of the fastest in the hybrid autofocus system in the world.

There are, of course, the standard scene modes and a feature called “an intelligence” that fits up to 5 images and selects the best on the basis of exposure, face detection and focus.

By default, a series Nikon cameras can record HD video at 30 fps. But they can also record video in full motion 400 and 1200fps, if you will inevitably sacrificing image quality.

Both cameras have a resolution of 3-inch LCD, while V1 sport an electronic viewfinder with 1.4 million points of resolution that is activated automatically when the power is applied to your face.

The Nikon D1 will be on sale October 20 for $ 649.95 and will include a kit lens 10-30mm. Otherwise, to $ 899.95, you can pick up a kit V1 with Nikon 10-30mm lens.

There you have the probre Rusty, a black labrador 9 years of age whose cruel master must swim in abundance. I say how I feel! I’ve been seeing it in full “spin”, and although I have no dog, I think before putting my poor pet in a contraption of the devil as the present one and spend 25 eurazos it! I can remove the fleas with tweezers, and lather up the bass with a toothbrush.

In short, this “great” idea is the work of the head of a French businessman named Romain Jarry, who apparently is succeeding “pour toute la France” made to place their dog wash dispensers here and there. As discussed in the web where I found the video, the invention is about to cross the English Channel and arrived in England.

I wonder if you could put in children when they come home on Saturday afternoon, after rolling around like crazy on the lawn. The dog seems to come out clean and relaxed! If you lower the price to levels similar to those of car washes

With the cold winter just around the corner, pressing crisis unabated, claiming further increases electrical operators and global environmental awareness growing, it was clear that the movement DIY going to give some input to heat our house using the resources natural.

And here it is: cheap solar heating (in fact can be made with recycled materials). Quiet! Photovoltaic panels will not need or electronic circuits, to take one of these is enough to have seen a program of clenching.

What do you need?

A wood frame

An old glass window

Roofing felt

Concrete for the base of the heater

Foam insulation base frame and

Vent for dryer

Metal grilles for the interior

Wood Billet grilles

A small computer fan

A thermostat to turn on and automatically turn off the fan

How do you do?

Well as you see in the first photo, it comes to a wooden frame that will be attached to the exterior wall of your house on a simple concrete base. The foam used to insulate the box joints and joint areas of the frame to the wall and settlement. The framework (a kind of window blinds) will be paneled with an old window pane. On the other side of the glass, covering it completely, tar paper to absorb sunlight. What’s behind the cardboard? For eleven meters for dryer vent (the best are made of metal, see this picture ). The pipe must go back and forth within the frame, zigzagging as often as possible.

One end of the duct must be attached to a hole communicating between the outer frame and the room. It is covered with a grid hole connector (and if you’re crafty, the set is embellished with a small wooden frame) as shown in the second photo. Thus we get a closed circuit in which the cold air coming from inside the house and back home again after traveling heater.

To finish the system in any of the two ends of the tube can install a small computer fan attached to a thermostat, so that automatically turn on when the heater temperature reaches 22 º C. Thus the air will circulate into the house when it reaches the optimal temperature.

As the author says, when the weather is sunny outside the system works like a charm, even if there is freezing cold outside. Obviously does not work so well on cloudy days (and nothing at night) but certainly in Spain, where we enjoyed many hours of sun even in winter, the savings could be achieved with this system would be like to have it in mind.

Moble Energy called and although it is still a “toy” that uses renewable energy evolved is interesting. As you can see in the picture, it is a portable windmill covered with solar panels. The design is the work of Cheng Peng, Yanko Design , and although only serves to load the MP3 and mobile, is “groovy.”

The creature is collapsible (you can take it on the bike or when you go camping) and includes a battery that stores production. But in addition to generating electricity for your gadgets, the device becomes an LED lamp and has a GPS. As they say in mygadgetreviews.com (where I discovered) that the orientation of the sun and wind match, something will happen on rare occasions, and with that size bit for the wind will fly. But we must recognize high doses of creativity and good intentions.

You know, if you get one you have no excuse not to take the iPhone camping in the mountains … wherever there are not many outlets.
