Mercedes-Benz F125

Mercedes-Benz is preparing the car for tomorrow and very futuristic vision of a 2025 S-Class, the F125 Concept that was presented in 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, a taste to come. “F” means “Forschungsfahrzeug” or an experimental car, 125 refers to the 125 th anniversary of the car (1886 Patenwagen Benz was the first Benz).

Concept F125 has all the technology of Mercedes-Benz wants to be included in future vehicles, to imagine, even electric, hydrogen fuel cell – powered, full-size luxury sedan with a variety of diesel. But it also shows that the automaker wants to go in terms of design.

It has a carbon fiber reinforced plastic sandwich construction platform, specially designed to fit an integrated concept of hydrogen in the tank. Carbon fiber reinforced plastic, aluminum and steel are all in a cloth on the outside, while the traditional B-pillars are now non-existent. It opens with two gull-wing doors giant employing nearly 90 percent of the machine pitch (18-inch cut between the axles 131 cm). Thanks for the hybrid materials, the concept is a lightweight shell, weighing just 551 pounds (total weight is only 3750 pounds). Lightweight 23-inch wheels supports the 245/35 low-rolling resistance tires.

To accompany the Index Futures, the F125 features a state of the art system of fuel cell that uses hydrogen to produce electricity, which in turn feeds a series of electric motors. At the heart of all this is the hydrogen which is integrated into the design of the F125 has, thus acting as a structural element so there is no loss of interior space and greater distance than current diesel models. The hydrogen is converted into electricity through a fuel cell that is stored in a 10 kilowatt-hour lithium-sulfur battery mounted behind the rear seats. Its battery can be recharged through a plug-in functionality.

The electricity then powers four electric motors mounted on each bottom corner to give the concept of full-time four-wheel drive. Engines before each slide to 68 hp and 55 lb-ft of torque, lb-ft while the rear it delivers 136 hp and 147 torque each. According to computer simulations of the Mercedes-Benz F125 can go from 0 to 62 km / h in 4.2 seconds with a top speed limited to 137 targets km / h to save battery power. Consumption made use hydrogen to 0.79 kg per 62 miles, which is about 87 miles per gallon (diesel.)

For the interior, including 3D displays in the cockpit, a cloud of telematics and asymmetric in the back seat of concept. It can accommodate only four, but when the front passenger seat fold-down foot in the, the right rear seat actually extend a business class seat. Features include voice-activated navigation, e-mail, Internet access, while gestures can trigger the wipers, turn signals and temperature.

Although all these great features sound exciting, we are confident that everything can change, when the price is published. But I repeat, all this can be extremely cheap to come in 2025!
